My Biography
As you probably know by this point, this site is about me, P.J. Wilkerson. I grew up in a town in San Angelo, Texas, which is a reltively small city in West Texas. I graduated from Trinity University in 2010. While at school, I was able to participate in a program called Semester at Sea, where I was able to visit 13 different countries in one semester, all while taking classes. This experience cultivated a love for travel and also provided me with an opportunity to meet some truly fantastic people.
Right after graduation, I relocated to Austin, Texas, where I currently reside. I chose Austin becuase it is a great city to meet people and get into the new media industry. This site is a space for me to share my life, professional and recreational interests, and the happenings in Austin with current and future friends and family.
Professional Interests
Professionally, I am interested in a few different industries. My degree is in Communication and Marketing and I am currently taking classes in both traditional Project Management and Scrum methodology. I am interested in getting into the video game industry, hopefully at one of the many studios here in Austin.
I also am interested in more traditional marketing and public relations. This site will provide an outlet for some of my thoughts on any major developments in these industries and my opinion of what some companies could be doing to be more competitive and which companies are the standards in their market. I also work with my good friend Justin Coleman on our small web design company StayAwake Design that was started to allow us to do some interesting side projects.
Recreation
As you have probably gathered by now, I am kind of a nerd. I love to play video games, watch movies and television, and just generally mess around on the internet. I have been a gamer since the the early SNES days and currently own several different consoles. I really like to truly delve into a game experience which means some of my posts will probably be about my experience in different game worlds.
I also love to travel. Whether it is just going camping for a weekend or jumping on a ship and sailing around the world, it is great to just get out of the norm and see something completely different. I also spend a lot of time yelling at my favorite sports team, the 49ers. While they have not been good in a while, I still truly enjoy the game of football. I will probably post about these topics time to time, just becuase I really enjoy talking about them and I would lways love to hear other opinions!
Other Information
I am a huge animal lover. I have one dog (seen in the picture on the right) named Riki. She is a Shiba Inu that really enjoys getting into trouble and running around my parent's backyard back in San Angelo. If I could pick one person to sit down and talk with for an hour, it would be Nelson Mandela. For those who do not know a lot about him, I strongly suggest picking up his autobiography "Long Walk to Freedom."
My favorite games are the Mass Effect series and pretty much anything else by Bioware. I am pretty liberal but always open to discussing politics, as long as we all can agree to be civilized. I am always working on new projects so keep an eye out for any new info on them on my the blog!
